When Skin Isn’t Typical:
Understanding Diseases, Disorders & Individual Differences
Tattoo artists work with people, not with textbook cases. Behind every tattoo is an individual with their own physiology, health conditions, medications, sensory experiences, and healing patterns. While most education focuses on healthy skin, many clients live with chronic illnesses, skin disorders, neurological conditions, autoimmune diseases, neurodiversity, or other factors that may influence the tattoo process.
This seminar aims to provide a broader understanding of how diseases, disorders, and individual differences can affect tattooing, healing, pain perception, and client care. Rather than focusing on contraindications alone, we will explore practical considerations, communication, and the limits of our profession, with the goal of helping artists make thoughtful, informed decisions and better support a diverse range of clients.
